Whale carcasses are washing up on the coast around the shack town of Trial Harbour and big sharks have been attracted to them.
Surfers, divers, and others are concerned that there could be a danger to water users.
Some of the carcasses were towed out to sea after the record pilot whale stranding on Tasmania’s west coast but washed ashore on the coast around Trial Harbour.
The remote shack town attracts many visiting surfers and divers, but the locals have abandoned the waves, saying very large sharks have been attracted to the area.
Parks and Wildlife have been asked to comment on the request for signs warning of the shark danger or to possibly remove the carcasses but haven’t responded on camera or issued a statement.
