When Dylan Mooney was at school, the kids would say he was too white to be Aboriginal.
Now, armed with a rich cultural upbringing, the Queensland artist is devoted to representing Indigenous and queer voices, while also resurrecting his ancestors’ artefacts through digital and hand-drawn artworks.
With ethereal characters inspired by loved ones, and traditional weapons based off thorough research of museum archives, Dylan’s work embodies the strength and pride of an ancient and modern Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and South Sea Islander people.
