On February 13, 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd described the forced removal of Aboriginal children as "a blemished chapter in our nation's history".
Mr Rudd made the statement during his formal apology to Australia’s Indigenous people.
As we mark National Sorry Day, we look back on Australia’s formal apology and acknowledge the resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, especially those impacted by the Stolen Generation.
