Khato Khato opened his barbershop in Wagga Wagga after Sydney proved to be too expensive.

It's a decision he made before the pandemic, which has devastated businesses across New South Wales, particularly in the state's capital.

Apart from recent restrictions, COVID-19 has had very little impact on Khato’s business.

Looking back, the 25-year-old is glad he opted for the regions to start open his barbershop, saying he doesn’t think his business would’ve survived the Sydney lockdowns.

Khato is part of the growing Yazidi community in the town and says although his journey has had its ups and downs, he’s happy he chose to settle in Wagga Wagga.
