Drummer Jack Butcher is only 12 years old and he has a dream.

He wants to be in a band like his famous grandfather, Sammy Butcher- one of the founding members of Papunya's Warumpi Band.

"My dream is to like travel around like my grandfather and show people what I like doing," he said.

Jack, whose country is Papunya, has been playing the drums since he was around four or five years old and said the music was in his blood.

"It is loud and I like it. It's fun because it keeps me energetic," he said.

Jack said that he often talks to his grandfather, Sammy about music and his time touring Australia and the world with the Warumpi Band.

"How he likes to play really fast and how he was travelling around," he said.

Jack said that music is in his blood and that playing the drums is easy for him, "because I've been playing for a long time."

Jack says that it doesn't take him long to pick up rhythms from his favourite drummers on YouTube.

"I always listened to my cousin Marcus McDonald. His songs are good and I always like to listen to them."

Jack said that it takes him five or 10 minutes to learn new beats and then he has to wait to return to the Northern Territory Music school to get behind a drum kit.
