Professor Sahajwalla is the founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology at the University of New South Wales.
Veena's research into waste has helped to create a new generation of green materials and products, and her regular collaboration with universities, institutions and community groups ensures new recycling science is developed and applied around the world.
Her work as a materials scientist, engineer and inventor has earned her the 2022 NSW Australian of the Year award.
