With a measuring tape draped around her neck, Wendy Mylrea moves between the many racks of frocks she has saved from the landfill.
The central Queensland- based seamstress is all about ‘upcycling’; rescuing clothes from shops that are shutting up or turning customer’s tired frocks and whipping them into something new and eye-catching.
One of her creations won last year’s ‘Fashions on the Field” at the races in Brisbane.
Ms Mylrea explains why there’s not a wedding dress or formal gown she can’t transfix into something contemporary, while customers show off their one-of-a-kind pieces.
