3:40Now PlayingThere’s no doubt having a furry – or feathered – friend around can be a joy, but what about when that companion has a liking for rather rude words? Kaz Roberts’ four-year-old budgie ‘Birdie Num Num’ knows more than 60 words and phrases, many of which are too rude to repeat here. The potty-beaked pet is the offspring of two therapy birds at the local high school in Gympie, Queensland. Now Kaz has hatched a plan to find a mate for Birdie, by posting an ad online seeking out a female. And with a bit of luck, the resultant offspring might even inherit their father’s fondness for some comical potty-beaked conversation.
Produced by Jessica Ross, ABC Sunshine Coast.
