as posted by the channelWhen David Morris started as a volunteer driver at a regional hospital 12 years ago, he never thought it would result in wedding bells.
The 75-year-old was grieving the death of his wife to cancer and wanted to give back and keep busy somehow.
A chance meeting with Shirley, who he was tasked with driving to and from chemo appointments, led to a rare friendship and – ultimately - a proposal.
She made him repeat the proposal two months later, 'just to make sure he was serious'.
The pair were married on David's rural property and, despite being in their mid-to-late 70s, say they hope to remain together for another 50 years.
They're trying to promote volunteerism later in life – as you never know who you might help, or how they'll end up helping you in return.
