YouTube Description
as posted by the channelIn 1968 Geoff Crow learned about a Japanese pearl diver who had drowned during a cyclone in 1918 in the Hinchinbrook channel. The story planted a seed and he has since established a grave marker for Takejiro Tanaka on the island.
Mr Crow now looks after 10 roadside fatality markers on the Bruce Highway and has established one on the town’s jetty for nine-year-old Christopher Zaro who tragically drowned in 1969.
Mr Crow said the memorial, which doubles as a life preserver, is available for anyone to use if they get in trouble in the water.
