1:00Now PlayingSeven howler monkeys found dehydrated in southern Mexico were released back into the wild this week amid a devastating heat wave that conservationists say has killed at least 157 monkeys since early May.
Officials said three adult females, one adult male and three infants were rescued after being found suffering from dehydration on May 24.
Mexican officials said Tuesday that monkey deaths have now been reported in Chiapas and three states on the Gulf of Mexico: Tabasco, Campeche and Veracruz.
