Sep 26, 20240:58Now PlayingNew York City Mayor Eric Adams has been charged with five counts connected to improper campaign contributions, according to a sweeping indictment unsealed Thursday morning.
At a press conference, moments after the mayor said he was innocent, federal prosecutors pointed to a board, saying: "This is a chart with all of the undisclosed travel benefits that we uncovered during the investigation ... if you just sum up all the dollar amounts here, you get to over $100,000."
The prosecutors added: "These upgrades and freebies were not part of some frequent flyer or loyalty program available to the general public. As we allege, this was a multi-year scheme to buy favor."
