Marchers chanted for “traditional family values,” and against the potential right of gay people to let someone else give birth to their child (surrogacy), which is banned in France. The group and its supporters have held a number of rallies against same-sex marriage, which was legalized in 2013 and remains a controversial issue for conservatives in otherwise liberal France.
