1:02Now PlayingOn Monday Obama asked the Federal Communication Commission to include broadband Internet in Title II of the Telecommunications Act. This proposed solution for promoting net neutrality would essentially make the internet a public service and give the FCC the ability to regulate Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Some conservatives believe the maneuver would give the government control of the internet, and likened it to "Obamacare." Many others see the idea as a way to protect the internet from ISPs charging for site visit or creating Internet "fast lanes." The FCC chairman Tom Wheeler responded by saying he shares the same hope of net neutrality as Obama but, respectfully, has different ideas of how to go about it. The FCC, which votes on changing its policy in December, received almost 4 million comments on net neutrality in the last few months.
