Sexual assault survivor Lise says Argentinians with European heritage have “a deep feeling of hatred [for Indigenous people].” Since colonization, Argentina's Indigenous peoples have faced mass killings, displacement, slavery and racist sexual violence. Many Indigenous women and activists say these sexual assaults are still happening today, and that perpetrators use the slur “chineo” to describe them. Many activists are demanding the government classify these assaults as hate crimes.
