2:23Now PlayingA visibly emotional Mo Amer announces that Bisan Owda has won a Peabody Award for her work with AJ+.
The Palestinian American comedian, who was honored the previous year for creating the sitcom “Mo,” was speaking at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
Bisan accepted one of the highest honors in broadcasting by video from a refugee camp in occupied Gaza. She has been chronicling Israel’s war on Gaza since Oct. 7, and before that created social videos showing Gaza’s beauty and culture.
The Palestinian filmmaker is in her 20s, and was one of the youngest people to accept an award at this year’s ceremony.
The Peabody Jury paid tribute to Bisan for “showing bravery and persistence in the midst of imminent danger and for carrying a heavy journalistic burden as the entire world looks on.”
