8:15Now PlayingFadi Aldeeb is Gaza’s only Paralympian. He was paralyzed from the waist down after an Israeli sniper shot him in 2001. While his main sport is basketball, Fadi qualified to compete in the shot put event at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
He says the last 10 months have been difficult for him to train. Fadi has lost 17 family members, including his brother, in the ongoing genocide.
“I want to raise my Palestinian flag there,” Fadi says about this year’s Paralympic games. The 40-year-old says that despite the hardships, he’s determined to win big for his country and keep the world’s attention on Gaza.
