In the 1960s, psychoanalysts John Bowlby and James Robertson spearheaded developmental psychology research of children. The results of their studies created what is now known as Attachment Theory, which psychologists use in counseling and therapy today. Turns out, the way we navigate relationships as adults stems directly from how our parents interacted with us within the first three years of our life! Now, this doesn’t mean we are forever condemned to any one style, but it is essential for parents to understand the immense impact they have on their children emotionally and psychologically.
