Anya for PBS America Remembers 9/11 video quilt

My answer to "How your life changed on 9/11?" for PBS Newshour 9/11 video quilt. Although I'm Jewish and did not know anyone Sikh, Hindu or Muslim before 9/11, I became deeply concerned with the backlash being directed at innocent people in the aftermath of 9/11. I reached out to the families of innocent murder victims around the country, and founded The Campaign for Collateral Compassion. For this work, my efforts against "appearance-ism", and my work against anyone being designated as "Other", I received the 2010 Spirit of Anne Frank Award, bestowed by The Anne Frank Center USA.

My article, "Then What? The Consequences of Lighting the AntiMuslim Fuse was recommended by Nicholas Kristof, Queen Noor of Jordan, Eboo Patel of the Interfaith Youth Core, and many others, and was also named among "The Best Sites To Help Teach About 9/11". A new version, "Where the AntiMuslim Path Leads" has currently received wide acclaim on many sites. Among a long list of media coverage of my efforts is a recent radio interview on Radio Baladi, where I discuss the anatomy of hate, forgiveness and transformation, in the story of a friend, Rais Bhuiyan, who was left for dead by a murderer who killed two innocent men following 9/11. Rais survived and fought arduously, though unsuccessfully, to prevent the execution of the man who tried to murder him, citing his faith as a Muslim for inspiring his extraordinary mission.
