Eric Swalwell recalled at the second 2020 Democratic debate in Miami a moment in his childhood when he heard a presidential candidate call for Americans to "pass the torch" to the next generation. That candidate, Swalwell revealed, was then-Sen. Joe Biden, now the front-runner in the Democratic field. "Joe Biden was right," Swalwell said, saying that to solve today's problems of automation, climate change, gun violence and more, it is time to "pass the torch."
