Kirsten Gillibrand of New York said Democrats need to “stop playing defense and start playing offense,” when it comes to fighting for abortion rights. Gillibrand, who has made a name for herself as a leader on women’s issues, said it was “mind-boggling” that Democrats were debating whether women should have access to reproductive rights in 2019. She promised as president she would guarantee women’s reproductive rights “no matter what.”
