Alexander Vindman, an Army officer who works for the National Security Council, and Jennifer Williams, an aide to Vice President Mike Pence, on Nov. 19, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Speier asked if Williams or Vindman has been treated differently since their depositions had been made public. While Williams said no, Vindman said he noticed he was "being excluded from several meetings that would have been appropriate for my position." Speier asked if Vindman experience reprisal, but the officer said he wasn't sure he could make that judgment, but did say that it was "out of the course of normal affairs to not have me participate" in some events. Vindman and Williams both listened in on a July phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
