Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, said Democrats are holding an “impeachment circus” and are trying to sell an “absurdity as an impeachable offense.” Nunes spoke ahead of testimony from Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, on Nov. 20, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Other government officials have testified that Sondland helped push Ukraine to investigate the 2016 elections, the Ukrainian company Burisma and the Biden family. In a July 25 call that has become the focus of the impeachment inquiry, Trump asked Zelensky to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
