Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas said her Republican colleagues are "working overtime to trying to convince us we didn't see what we saw with our own eyes and we didn't hear what we heard with our own ears." "Facts matter," she later added. Escobar's comments came after her colleague, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., yielded to her. Jayapal argued for an amendment to the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, and criticized Republicans, saying she had two questions for them. "Forget about President Trump, will anyone of my colleagues on the other side, say that it is an abuse of power to condition aid on official acts?" she asked. "Is any one of my colleagues willing to say that it is ever okay for the president of the United States of America to invite foreign interference in our elections? Not a single one of you has said that so far." The House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 12 considered revisions to the articles of impeachment and voted on whether to send those articles to the full U.S. House of Representatives. Democrats on Tuesday filed two articles of impeachment against Trump -- abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
