A senior adviser for former Vice President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign said her candidate had a “strong performance” during the PBS NewsHour/POLITICO Democratic Debate. Symone Sanders said Biden’s view of bipartisanship is that “we have to rise above” in order to “get something done in this country,” adding that Biden demonstrated why he’s the commander in chief Americans need in the Oval Office on Day One. Sanders also defended Biden’s health care plan for a public option. Biden is one of seven Democrats vying for their party's presidential nomination in 2020 who met the increasingly challenging qualifications to be on the debate stage on Dec. 19, 2019.
