President Donald Trump’s legal team made the case on Jan. 25 that House Democrats, who spent the previous three days making arguments against the president and in favor of removing him from office, did not provide all the evidence, including facts that show Trump’s innocence. Jay Sekulow, a lawyer for Trump, said the evidence shows the president was acting properly when he put a hold on Ukraine aid and asked Ukraine to investigate the Bidens. “To say that the president of the United States was not concerned about burden sharing, that he was not concerned about corruption in Ukraine, the facts, from their hearing--the facts from their hearing--establish exactly the opposite,” Sekulow said. The House of Representatives impeached Trump in December on two articles of impeachment--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate trial will determine whether Trump is acquitted of those charges or convicted and removed from office.
