Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said he will remember "the shame and sadness that I felt" when the Senate decided to "close its eyes, to put on blinders to evidence, witnesses and documents, first-hand knowledge ... that were necessary to understand the complete story" on impeachment. He went on to say “it’s a dead giveaway, he’s guilty” going on to say “the truth will come out” and that it is just a matter of “when.”
On Feb. 4, Senators weighed in for the second day on how they will vote on whether to remove President Donald Trump from office. The speeches come one day before the Senate will decide whether to convict or acquit Trump on two articles of impeachment — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. After the Senate voted last week to bar new witness testimony and subpoenas for documents, Trump’s acquittal has seemed all but assured. The House of Representatives impeached Trump in December.
