He warned that states could see spikes in coronavirus cases if they ignore the recommendations. “I have been very clear in my message to try -- to the best extent possible -- to go by the guidelines that have been very well thought out,” Fauci said. Fauci and other leading U.S. health officials on Tuesday appeared before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions to answer questions about safely reopening schools and workplaces. Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers on Disease Control and Prevention, Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Health Adm. Brett Giroir, and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn also spoke before the committee.
