1:37Now PlayingNightlife came to a halt this spring when nationwide shelter-in-place orders for the pandemic took hold across the country. With concert halls, clubs and other social gatherings no longer viable in the global emergency, DJ D-Nice said it’s been a “hard time” for the entertainment industry -- and not only for DJs, but for all employees who rely on these spaces for work.
“It's not just about the DJ, it's about the bartender, the waitresses, the bar backs, the guy that’s handling the door list, the front-of-house guy,” he told the PBS NewsHour. “There's so many jobs at risk by not being able to perform the way that we have been able to in the past.”
As for the DJ business itself, D-Nice said that people will still need entertainment, even if venues will have to stay closed for a long time.
