Estefan, who at the time hadn’t hugged her family in months, said she decided to order hazmat suits for her grandson’s birthday, sort of as a joke at first. The singer-songwriter said she convinced her son to host something in her backyard of her home in Vero Beach, Florida.
“I was not going to let my son tell me that I could not hug my grandson,” Estefan said. “I will never forget that hug. He wouldn’t let go. He was holding on to me, like squeezing me. That hug was the best thing the entire day.”
