0:43Now PlayingFormer Vice President Mike Pence was asked about the ideological divide in the GOP on Tuesday, and how his vision for the party differs from that of former President Trump.
Pence said he and Trump were not divided on issues, but might “differ on focus.” Drawing a distinction from Trump, who continues to push the false narrative that the 2020 election was improperly decided, Pence said, “I believe conservatives must focus on the future to win back America.”
Pence was back in Washington D.C. outlining his “Freedom Agenda” at the national conference of the Young America’s Foundation, a conservative student group.
Pence’s address came the same day Trump, was expected to speak at a summit hosted by the America First Policy Institute, and followed the two giving dueling appearances last Friday for rival candidates in Arizona.
This latest speech from Pence comes a day after his former chief of staff, Marc Short, testified before a federal grand jury investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. And, just last week, the House committee investigating the violence of that day released new information about what the former president was doing while lawmakers and the vice president were sheltering away from rioters.
