as posted by the channelPulitzer Prize-winning historian and writer David McCullough died on Sunday at the age of 89, leaving a body of work that included books on culture, architecture and two well-regarded biographies of two often overlooked presidents: John Adams and Harry Truman.
In a 2011 interview with NewsHour's Jeffrey Brown, McCullough described how he always discovered something new when he began a project.
“You find it in surprising places,” McCullough said. “You also have to keep an open mind, because often you find it in a person, somebody who has something to say.”
