But between polarized political landscapes and school funding lags, the education landscape in a post-COVID pandemic world has become even more complicated. As another school year begins, the PBS NewsHour asked educators who attended its recent Student Reporting Labs workshop in Arlington, VA about the biggest challenges they face.
"The biggest challenge facing teachers is that we have now become the enemy again. We were heroes during COVID, and now we're the enemy in a lot of ways," said Devin Marsh of Miami, Fla. And on assertions that educators are indoctrinating their students, Marsh said, "if we were indoctrinating them into anything, we'd be indoctrinating them into doing their homework."
