1:00Now PlayingNews and social media are saturated with horrifying images from the war between Israel and Hamas. Since the war began on Oct. 7, thousands of people have been killed and thousands more are injured. As adults digest daily updates, kids may also be aware of the war and have feelings or questions that are difficult to answer.
“All of the science tells us if adults will bring it up, they have a better chance of helping children cope with what’s going on,” said Robin Gurwitch, a child psychologist at Duke University.
Gurwitch said that younger kids may also bring up the same questions again and again, not because they don't know the answer, but because they are still processing it.
