"Over time, my name has come to mean more than a name both to me and to my fans," the emcee and co-founder of The Roots told PBS NewsHour's Jeffrey Brown in a recent interview.
Trotter said he took the name as a teenager "before I really understood what it could come to mean, or the power that could lie within that name."
Now, he's reflecting on his transformation as an artist and the new meaning his stage has taken on.
