1:19Now PlayingDemocratic Congressman Rep. Robert Garcia of California described former President Donald Trump’s rhetoric on immigration as “reminiscent of things that Adolf Hitler said.” Garcia's comments came during a Tuesday exchange with a Republican congressman.
Garcia said Trump was using “the same rhetoric that Hitler did” in describing immigrants as “polluting the blood of this country.”
Garcia was speaking during a House Homeland Security Committee hearing ahead of a key vote on the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Republican committee member Rep. August Pfluger of Texas challenged Garcia and asked whether he was saying Trump was like Hitler.
Garcia responded that Trump’s rhetoric was the same.
“When you say that immigrants are polluting this country,” Garcia said. “That is absolutely reminiscent of things that Adolf Hitler said,” Garcia said.
