as posted by the channelThe U.S. and Japan must work together to protect “the international order,” Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said before a joint session of Congress on Thursday.
“Close coordination between Japan and the U.S. is required more than ever to ensure that the deterrence our alliance provides remains credible and resilient,” Kishida said.
Kishida called the U.S. a “country that's upheld the international order almost single-handedly.”
“Although the world looks to your leadership, the U.S. should not be expected to do it all unaided and on your own,” Kishida said.
Kishida is in Washington visiting President Joe Biden as part of efforts to counter China’s growing influence in East Asia.
