0:47Now PlayingSeveral people were killed and more than a dozen injured Tuesday in Iowa when a tornado barreled through the rural town of Greenfield about 55 miles outside of Des Moines.
The tornado destroyed entire homes, toppled wind turbines, overturned cars and left behind widespread damage, with debris scattered across streets and yards. Police said they are still counting the number of dead in Greenfield, which has a population of about 2,000 people.
At least 23 tornadoes were reported Tuesday in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service, during a week that has seen inclement weather impact much of the central portion of the United States.
