as posted by the channelWisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson spoke Monday at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, two days after an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.
The suspected shooter, who was killed by law enforcement, killed one person and seriously injured two.
Later, Johnson told PBS News Hour’s Amna Nawaz in an interview that the speech was an outdated version that had more incendiary language than the updated version. However, the teleprompter wasn’t working, he said, so he gave an older version of the speech.
“Today's Democrat agenda, their policies are a clear and present danger to America, to our institutions, our values and our people,” Johnson said.
During the convention, delegates will adopt a party platform and Trump will formally accept the Republican nomination for president. On Monday, Trump named Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate.
