“You appreciate God even more,” he added.
In video of the private event given to PBS News and edited for length, Trump reflects on the Saturday shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania, which killed one and seriously injured two. The 20-year-old suspected gunman was also killed by law enforcement. The FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and Congress have launched investigations into Secret Service and other security at the event.
“This has been our best campaign and then I got shot. ... How does that happen?”Trump said, as the crowd cheered “Fight! Fight! Fight!”
“It wasn’t like it was a complete miss. It was pretty terrible that that can happen,” Trump said.
