1:30Now PlayingFormer Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized President Joe Biden’s 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan on the final night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Pompeo called the end to the 20-year war “incompetent” and said the “weakness” that was demonstrated emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.
“As an Army veteran, I want to speak to everybody who served in Afghanistan," Pompeo said Thursday. "I'm disgusted by the Biden administration's incompetent pullout from that country. To those of you who served there, know this: Know that your service was honorable, that you saved American lives and that the Pompeos love and admire you for what you did for America.”
Throughout the week, Republican elected officials, party leaders, celebrities and voters have taken the stage to speak in support of former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance. They also adopted a party platform.
