4:02Now PlayingActor and producer Mindy Kaling spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Wednesday, a night focused on fighting “for our freedoms,” from democracy to reproductive rights and more.
Kaling told the story of cooking dosas with Vice President Kamala Harris, then Kaling's senator, and bonding over their love for their moms, who had both immigrated from India and both died from cancer.
"Kamala Harris cares deeply about other people. She will fight to protect our freedoms because those are the values that her mother passed down to her," Kaling said.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will also formally accept the vice presidential nomination, a day before Harris takes the stage as the official nominee.
