2:42Now PlayingFormer President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris were asked what they would do to fight climate change during their presidential debate on Tuesday.
Harris touted the Biden administration’s investments in clean energy and said they had created new manufacturing jobs.
“We have invested in clean energy to the point that we are opening up factories around the world,” Harris said.
Trump did not address the threat of climate change, but said that manufacturers were leaving to build plants in Mexico, some of which were owned by China. He also claimed without evidence that President Joe Biden was corrupt and had been paid “millions of dollars" by China.
“This is a crooked administration and they're selling our country down the tubes,” Trump said.
Harris and Trump met for their first and possibly only debate on Sept. 10, hosted by ABC in Philadelphia. Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee this summer after Biden gave a troubling debate performance in June, increasing calls for him to drop out of the race.
According to the latest PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, more than two-thirds of Americans say they will watch all or most of the debate. While many voters have already made up their minds, 14 percent of Americans say the debate will have a great impact on which candidate they choose.
