1:17Now PlayingAsked to respond to former President Donald Trump's claims about rampant crime in the U.S., Vice President Kamala Harris said "this is so rich coming from someone who has been prosecuted for national security crimes, economic crimes, election interference, found liable for sexual assault and his next big court appearance is in November at his own criminal sentencing."
Listing the criminal indictments Trump has faced since leaving office during the presidential debate, Harris echoed the Democrats' focus this election on portraying the former president as someone without respect for the rule of law.
"Let's talk about what is important in this race. It is important that we move forward, that we turn the page on this same old tired rhetoric and address the needs of the American people," Harris said.
Harris and Trump met for their first and possibly only debate on Sept. 10, hosted by ABC in Philadelphia. Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee this summer after Biden gave a troubling debate performance in June, increasing calls for him to drop out of the race.
According to the latest PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, more than two-thirds of Americans say they will watch all or most of the debate. While many voters have already made up their minds, 14 percent of Americans say the debate will have a great impact on which candidate they choose.
