Former President Donald Trump “consistently made the world more secure” when he was in office, Sen. JD Vance said during the vice presidential debate on Tuesday with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Vance stated that Israel was attacked by Hamas on Oct. 7 during Joe Biden's presidency with Kamala Harris as his vice president.

“Who has been the vice president for the last three and a half years?” Vance asked of Walz, “The answer is your running mate, not mine. Donald Trump consistently made the world more secure.”

Vance and Walz are facing each other in their first, and possibly last, vice presidential debate.

Both are relatively unknown to the broader American public. Walz was a U.S. House member before becoming governor of Minnesota. Vance is in his first term as a senator from Ohio.
