as posted by the channelGov. Tim Walz said on Tuesday that Vice President Kamala Harris has made it a priority to implement paid family and medical leave, which gives newborn babies a “better start,” makes families “work better” and allows parents to stay with their employers.
In contrast, Walz said, former President Donald Trump is preoccupied with giving tax breaks to “the wealthiest among us.”
“[Trump] is willing to say, ‘Bust those unions up,’ whatever. What we're saying is, the economy works best when it works for all of us,” Walz said, in answering a question about how long employers should be required to pay workers on child leave.
Walz also emphasized that it was unfair to “expect the most important people in our lives to take care of our children or our parents to get paid the least amount of money.”
“A federal program of paid family/medical leave and help with this will enhance our workforce, enhance our families, and make it easier to have the children that you want.”
With just more than a month to go before Election Day, Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz met for their first and only vice presidential debate on Oct. 1, hosted by CBS in New York.
