1:08Now PlayingAmerican basketball player Paige Bueckers has become the first NIL athlete to launch a Nike shoe. NIL or name, image and likeness, was created to empower student-athletes to market themselves by getting endorsements for profit as college athletes. The UCONN basketball player created her Nike G.T. Hustle 3 shoe in a baby blue and lavender purple color scheme decorated with personalized touches. The area codes for the University of Connecticut and her hometown of Minnesota intersect on one shoe while the other is adorned with a bucket, a play to her surname. The back of one shoe also features a quote her father shares with her before every game: “Be You, Be Great.”
