2:36Now PlayingCongress formally certified President-elect Donald Trump's 2024 election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris Monday, four years after rioters stormed the Capitol to overturn Trump's 2020 loss.
As president of the Senate, Harris presided over the joint session to certify the Electoral College vote count in the 2024 presidential election.
Harris, who became the Democratic Party's nominee after President Joe Biden dropped out of the election in July, is the third vice president in modern times to oversee the ceremonial confirmation of their election loss.
It comes four years since a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol under the false belief that the 2020 election had been stolen, interrupting the proceedings on Jan. 6, 2021, to formalize Biden's victory in the 2020 election.
Trump will be sworn into office on Jan. 20, 2025.
