Walter Mondale had prepared the eulogy to be read at Carter’s funeral before his own death in 2021. Ted Mondale, the former vice president's son, delivered the tribute at Washington National Cathedral.
"We came up with a sentence, which remains an important summary of our work: 'We told the truth, we obeyed the law and we kept the peace.' That we did, Mr. President," Mondale said.
