Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said he would rely on his faith in his role as secretary of state, President-elect Donald Trump's nominee said during his Senate confirmation hearing on Wednesday.

“My faith is critical and something I will lean and rely on heavily in the months that are ahead, in a tumultuous world where in my faith we are called to promote the cause of peace and the common good, and that task has gotten harder than it's ever been,” Rubio said.

Rubio, the senior senator from Florida, was also a one-time Republican presidential hopeful who ran against Trump. A former member of the Senate panel holding his confirmation hearing, Rubio also serves on the Select Committee on Intelligence.
